Im going to macys tommorow to buy a new foundation. I have combination skin and occasionaly breakout. I also have some dark spots and redness due to previous pimples, i want the foundation to cover those well.Yet for my skin to still look natural. Im 16 if that helps....Which brand would work the best chanel or clinique? And which of their foundations? Also what to expect at a cosmetic counter? Thank you....

I like MAC Studio Fix powder foundation. Clinique never seems to last to me and I have never tried Chanel. I was a little intimidated going to a make-up counter, but found the Mac salespeople to be very helpful in finding just the right product and shade. It's a little spendy, but worth it after wasting too much money on drugstore brands that just don't work or were the wrong color.

Okay, so i haven't really tried Chanel, but i ALWAYS use Clinique foundation... If i'm having an oily day, it doesn't look that great, but otherwise it works well. Get the lightest foundation, because you don't want to look over-done, or the foundation to discolor on your face. And there are usually very nice women behind the counter, and you just ask for some assistance in picking out the right shade for you, and they'll send a woman over help. Don't do this yourself, they've been doing it for a long time. It's fun!

I have used both brands and foundations. I suggest Chanel Double Perfection for you. Clinique is good but if your skin is oily, the foundations tend to melt down on you-

I think in terms of short term use Chanel would probably provide better coverage and a better finish but if you are going to use it frequently I would suggest you go with Clinique instead since they their products are more skin-friendly.

i got my makeup done the other day at the bobbi brown counter and loved the look of it.
if you would like to see how it looks on your skin.. have one of the make up gals give you a free make over. wear the make up for the day but don't buy yet- see how you like it. then if you like it go back the next day. or go back and get another brand to do the same thing till you realllly like the results.
they will also show you how to properly apply and blend.
make sure they blend a lil down your neck- at time when they do make up they don't blend down and you look like you have a mask of make up and nothing else bcse of the chin line shadow
also ask if they can pour you a sample to use at home

Haven't tried Chanel. Clinique isn't that great. Try MAC.

I'm a MAC user, it works wonders and looks like I'm not wearing anything, it covers but doesn't look phony. I don't know how they do it but its great.
What you can expect is that they try to match your skin tone. Don't buy anything you don't need, and ask for samples.
