I know that this is always portrayed as a love song. Here's the tune - F sharp, up to G, down to B, up to C, up to D, down to A, down to G, up to D. I'm not sure if this is in the right key. Please tell me the composer and name of the piece. Thanks!!

Glinzek is correct--this is the "love theme" from Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy. The melody was also used as the basis for a popular song of the 1930s titled "Our Love."
