9x = 1
x = 1 / 9

All one has to do is substitute -4 for every x in the equation
7x - 5 + 3x = 6 + x - 10
7(-4) - 5 + 3(-4) = 6 + (-4) -10
-28 -5 - 12 = 2 - 10
-45 = -8
-4 is not a solution to the equation

absolutely not. Let's look at each side of the equation seperately. They should come out to equal the same number.
Side A: 7x-5+3x= 7(-4)-5+3(-4)= -28-5+(-12)=-28-5-12=-45
Side B: 6+x-10= 6+(-4)-10= 2-10= -8
They are nowhere close to equal. So -4 is not a solution.

7x - 5 +3x =6 + x -10
subtract both sides by 5
7x + 3x = 11 + x - 10
add 7x and 3x
10x = 11 + x - 10
substract x from both sides
9x = 11- 10
subtract 11 and 10
9x = 1
divide both sides by 9
1/9 is your answer so -4 is not the solution

hmmm.. lets see...
7x-5+3x=6 +x-10
well first u have to combine the like terms....
10x-5= x-4
Then u subtract x from both sides
9x-5= -4
Then u add 5 to each side
9x=1
soooo... x = 1/9
