P. Demasoni http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.bigskycichlids.com/images/Pdemasoni.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.bigskycichlids.com/Pdemasoni_articlex.htm&h=242&w=390&sz=77&hl=en&start=0&um=1&tbnid=m0mKjHm_sADbeM:&tbnh=76&tbnw=123&prev=/images%3Fq%3DP.%2BDemasoni%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4ADBS_enUS223US223%26sa%3DX are really nice looking and don't get more than 3-4" You could do a really nice rock set up with caves and holes with P. Demasoni. If you want to mix different kinds, then there are tons to choose from.

Yellow labshttp://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1669 are one of the more mild cichlids and good for a beginner to cichlids. They would be nice in your tank. There are probably lots more so try looking at these web sites to see what you like that would be good for your tank:

There would be of course, many, many other choices. I'll forward this quesiton to 8 in the corner, he's a true expert in cichlids.

I used to have two large red Oscars that shared my 75 gal. tank. They had plenty of room but because they are so messy and often go after smaller fish I kept them in there alone.
