Well, it's not like they're going to hit anything, or crash into anybody, or leave the scene of the accident.... although they could get lost???? Plus, think of how fun it would be for us to watch them from the "rocket cam", lol... As long as they "suited up" before they left the ship I think it'd be fine.. The only problem is, what if they DID run across another form of life, and made a bad impression???

I think it is totally wrong, and they should be terminated for SUI. Imagine the damage that could have happened because they are drinking - so you don't have to be too bright to be an Astronaut?
I sure thought highly of them prior to this, and I am not grouping them all together, but the ones who did this need to say bye bye.

state trooper approaches shuttle on pad:
"you boys been drinking?"
astronauts in shuttle frantically look for pennies and Altoids
"No sir, just headed home for the night
trooper: " headed home in all that space gear, huh?"
"yeah we are going to crash at our buddies house..alldone flying for the night"
trooper: "all 7 of you going to stay at your friends?"
"yeah, his moms out of town, and she's real cool
trrooper: "can you step out of the shuttle for me son?"
"damn it."
That is what its like when me and buddies get pulled over..

I'd get drunk too (to calm my nerves). Think about it, you're leaving earth (the only planet you're familiar with) and you're going into space (the unknown). Let the astronauts do as they please- they have the guts to do what they do! :)
