The theory of Affirmative Action is that blacks have been denied jobs in the past because they are black, so to reverse that trend blacks need help getting jobs.
I believe in equal rights for everyone, so I am against policies that favor any race: white, black, Asian, Hispanic, etc. That is why I am against Affirmative Action, because it makes it easier for a black person to get a job then a white person with exactly the same skills. I do not think that the way to end racism is to make minorities more apt to get a job than a white person. This just leads to many whites becoming bitter that minorities are receiving special treatment in job selection.
That being said, I am not saying that racism does not still exist today, since it does. I just think that there are better ways to try to reverse racism that has been a part of human society for all of recorded history.

Basing chioce on race is racism. in the start Affirmative action was the only way to overcome a long history of hate and in some case it is still needed. But sadly Affirmative action can belittle the people it was meant to help, They only got were they are because of thier color not thir actions and deeds. That would be the thinking of the one that did not make the cut because they were the wrong color.

No ethnic group of Americans have gone through, what the Black Americans have gone through, in this country.
Except the Native American Indian. But every ethnic group have benefit from the plight of the American Blacks.
What group can justify and then tell a people to for get about it and move on, and pretend that it never took place.
I am talking about ...Slavery and everything that went with it like, beatings, lynchings, burnings, mutilations, castrations, rape, etc..etc.
And then Jim Crow with its separate but unequal laws... And still today, alive and well Racism and Discrimination.
American Blacks held back for over 400 years. Then told to get over it and get on with your life.
People act like the 50's and 60's are ancient history, but its not. To me its only like yesterday. And some white people have bought into this big lie about...., affirmative action is reverse racism. I mean give me a break.
Walk a mile in Black person shoe before you say that.
and please don't mention.. Oprah Winfrey or Bill Cosby or some other celebrity to try to make your point.

First question should be what is the intent nof affirmative action. Is it to guarantee "minorities" a job or admittance to a school? If so what determines a minority? Would I be considered for acceptance to an all black school under affirmative action? Opinion is that everyone should be treated fairly based on ability to meet requirements of job or school. Noone deserves to get a job or be admitted to school SIMPLY based on race.

There are many white men who would never select a black person or Hispanic person or even a white woman for a job based on ability.
It's sadly a fact.
Even in 2007.
Affirmative action IMO will always be necessary!
I don't care how progressive our society becomes, as long as white Anglo/Saxon males control the business world, affirmative action will be necessary!!

maximum individuals are racist. they do exactly no longer are responsive to it by using fact maximum racism is subconscious. It's not reverse racism, but only because racism is racism. It is however unconstitutional in TX and CA. The way that is is written it is designed to give "preferential treatment" to minorities. Legislation based on skin color is racism. If it is an inverse, it is the inverse of Jim Crow and a step back in a free society.

Dubya groupies should be thankful for Affirmative Actions.
If not for AA, Clearance Thomas, would have never made it as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court and voted for Bush in 2000.
American Bar Association rated him "not qualified" so he voted for dubya whom the entire world considers "not qualified".
I guess, it takes a "not qualified" to know a "not qualified". Just like misery, stupidity also loves company!

Affirmative Action is reverse racism.
It's also saying that non-white people are too stupid to obtain a job fairly so they have to be given those jobs to make life easier for them.
While people who happen to have the qualifications and possibly student loan debt are not qualified for those jobs simply because they are white.

Absolutely. Because some people have it ingrained in their heads that they're entitled to something...the culture of entitlement. Did you see the question about reparations on the Democratic debate on Monday? Ridiculous! Take money from people who had nothing to do with slavery and give it to people who were not slaves. That's the most idiotic crap I've ever heard.
