Anything by Jane Austen, but especially Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion
Any of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books by Douglas Adams
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl (yes I know it's a kids book but it's my all time favorite one)
Anything by P.G. Wodehouse
Harry Potter novels.
Someone also said Janet Evanovich. Those are great fun quick reads especially the Stephanie Plum ones.
Other than that I read a lot of non-fiction especially history.

I agree with To Kill a Mockingbird, The Catcher in the Rye, all Harry Potter. I also love Nine Stories by JD Salinger. I love the Odd Thomas books by Dean Koontz, his charcters are so special and yet so flawed. The Shining by Stephen King has a special place in my heart; I snuck the book from my mom's shelf when I was 10. It terrified me and excited me, it was the first "adult" book that I read and it opened my eyes to reading for the sake of reading.
