I've been approached with a direct-selling company business oppurtunity. Its name is Quixtar. I just want to know if its really a true working model and is it worth joining it?
I would be glad to know the pros and cons of joining it and whether it can be done by an average person and how far would it be gainful to him?

I found it was like Amway on the Internet: stuff is overpriced but YOU get it at a discount and can sell to others and make a profit. Get people to join under you and they pay you a percentage of what they buy/sell. What you buy/sell kicks up to the people who brought your in. Classic MLM.
If that appeals to you, rock on; I thought it was a waste of my time and money.

While it is a legitimate business opportunity, it is next to impossible to make any money.
Most Quixtar reps spend thousands of dollars buying training materials and going to training seminars. While you are told these materials and seminars are optional, you are highly encouraged to purchase and attend. The dirty little secret with Quixtar is that the people at the top of the distribution chain (pyramid) make a vast majority of their money off of the training materials and seminars though you will be told that no one makes any money on them. I have never seen anyone being even close to being profitable as a Quixtar rep.
There is one last big "con": If you sign up, all of your friends and family will avoid you like the plague.
Like I said, it is a legitimate business, but the "cons" way outweigh the "pros".

The facts are as follows:
Quixtar is Amway.
They are doing better overseas in Asia and not the US as well anymore.
People are not money driven so convincing people to re direct their buying power is old school.
Attrition versus retention - People who drop out are far greater than those who stay in Quixtar. Its about the same turnover rate as Avon these days, which is about a 90%.
The pros of joining Quixtar is to hang out with the successful business leaders and rub shoulders with them. You will gain entrepreneurial knowledge to take with you as a life experience and it will be of benefit.
That way, you will be able to discern opportunities that will make you serious money rather than loyalty to the company or product just because it was your friend.

Direct Marketing is the best thing out there, especially when your burned out on multi level marketing. I am a customer of a direct marketing company but I don't have to sell. Either way, direct is the key, cutting out the advertising and getting a better quality product is the way to go. Jennifer

I know someone that does it and they buy overpriced stuff for themselves so that they can make commission. Sounds goofy, pyramid-like to me.
