Virgin Mobile has a $25 card that expires in 90 days.
So, that's a minimum of $8.33 per month if you choose to look at that that way.
There is also a $20.00 for 30 days plan; you get 200 anytime minutes for that.

$20.00 a month for a phone! That's not bad!
As for the phone itself, Last time I checked Walmart was having a special on the LG3300 model, and they are including a free hands-free headset. For about $60. The Virgin Mobile website is selling this same phone for $79.
Although everyone seems to be going for the Bluetooth camera phones! Apparently, after you take your picture you can just sort of point your phone towards one of those yellow kiosks, and the machine will know what you are talking about and print your photo. $99. for this one.

T-mobile is good and some of the phones are only like $50. I have it, and have never had a dropped call. And you don't have to pay a dollar a day.

Depending on your location and who's on which network, the prepaid mobile phone deal can vary. Here's my recommendations:
If most of your people on Nextel and Boost, go with Boost Mobile
If most of your people on AT&T, go with AT&T Go Phone.
If most of your people on Alltel, go with Alltel U.
If it varies, my recommendation (assuming if it covers your area), go with Net 10 Wireless. It ten cents a minute ALL DAY, EVERY DAY without any access fees whatsoever.
If you are on in the area that covers MetroPCS or Cricket, go with either of them. :-)
You have plenty of choices, but I think MetroPCS has the best value. ;-)

i don't like the verizon/freedom phone. You have to renew your minutes every 30 days and a minimum of $15 and I didn't use all my minutes so they took them away. I like the trac phone because you have to buy minutes every 60 days. And the verizon customer service lady was very rude to me when they double charged me and they said they didn't.

I also have Amp'd. I would recomend switching to Alltel. Its prepaid, it costs five cents more per minute than Amp'd, but it uses the cdma network, so you can port your number and keep your current Amp'd phone.
