Doesn't that go against what you claim to be?

We don't hate Christians - we just hate the forced down your throat political style certain Christians thrive on (we all know which Christians I am talking about).

Yes, it is discriminatory and closed minded. That is why I don't hate any group of people. I don't think the same could be said for Christians, however. It seems to be fine with the Christians to hate anyone with whom they disagree, especially us liberals.

I am a christian and a liberal and it completely shows how narrow minded you are to assume that just because I am a liberal means that I hate christians. what I do not like however is some peoples belief that it is okay to take basic rights away from a person just because you feel that it is not right. I mean there is a limit to how far this should go. no I do not think we should let people go around killing each other but that is a whole lot different then allowing people of the same sex to marry. and for the record I attend a christian church every sunday but that doesnt mean I cant still be a liberal.

Most of us don't hate Christians or Christianity or any other religion.
We are tired of being made to follow laws both written and implied that are a product of religious beliefs.
Particularly when the vast majority of the public leaders of those religions are loud and obnoxious about condemning the behavior of the unfaithful when they themselves in fact are committing offenses against their own rules and commandments!
So many of them publicly act pious and privately act sinfully!!
There is too much hypocrisy in organized religion.
Many of the people who were born into a family that practiced organized religion have moved on to find their own answers.
I don't know or understand why so many religious people get upset at people who think organized religion doesn't fulfill all the questions that exist in trying to find meaning in life?!?!

Many of us aren't closed minded to Christianity or organized religion -- actually many of us have been there and found it wrong for us.

Has it ever occured to you that your beliefs may be wrong?

Or is it possible that every religion of the world hold some beliefs that will ultimately one day be proven to be right and some that will be proven to be wrong!!??

Where things went very wrong in my opinion was when government started to control the people based on religion. Now in a country like the U.S. where you have every religion of the world represented....which one do you base societal rules on?

It causes many problems.

Keeping church and state seperate is very important for the state and the church!!

I am a progressive liberal and I don't hate Christians. Quite the contrary, I admire the principles of Jesus Christ and strive to emulate them.

I really don't know what you're referring to - unless it is the use/manipulation of fundamentalist Christians by some politicians. The article cited below is very interesting and is written by the son of a minister.

Touche' dadof2! If Jesus were alive today he'd be a liberal.

No, the idea is that Christians are discriminatory and closed minded, and it's OK to hate them for that, rather than for being Christians.

Where's you come up with THIS gem, Jeff?

Care to provide any documentation?

Personally, I don't "hate" any Christians.

I have a definite dislike for far-right fundies that get up in my face, confusing "witnessing" with harassment; thinking that Jesus gives them a blank check to spew their particular brand of hatred.

Thank God, circuit court judges in Wisconsin are ready to explain to these nutcakes that there is a distiction between the two - witnessing and harassment.

Yes, of course. But don't confuse criticism and challenge, even animated challenge, wth hatred. Of course, some individuals do indeed cross the line, but theis is not a fair representative of liberalism...... Liberalism is an extension of enlightenment principles and has won many victories for humanity.

The polarity and ignorance and attacks is found on both sides, especially in YA.

I’m a liberal and a Christian. Christians get a bad name from the fundamentalist political activists, religious right who are trying to use the government to force their religious beliefs on others. This type of close-minded theocratic behavior is totally unacceptable and is unconstitutional.

Jeff, this is a very unfair question. I'm a conservative and I must say that there are "Christians" and then there a "pseudo-Christians." I loath pseudo-Christians. One has to look long and hard to find a true Christian, and you are lucky when you find one.
