I read that it was recently voted the best (or favourite) sci-fi movie by sci-fi fans (readers of SFX Magazine).
My brother said he liked the movie. I'm really interested to see it.

I absolutley love this series. The movie was great too in that it picked up nicely where (unfortunatley due to cancellation) the series left off. Joss Whedon is one of the best writers around. If you enjoyed this series you may also like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, also by Joss Whedon. Believe it or not this is the same guy who wrote the first Toy Story movie!

Great series - too bad it got axed.

I thought the movie was excellent. Felt the series lacked direction.
The premise of the series called for a beginning, middle and end. It needed more than weekly adventure.
Good series requires character growth and development, seemed to lack that. It did have a lot of potential, a second season might have rectified the problems.

One of my favorite sci-fi series of all time...right up there with Farscape and Babylon 5. And the movie was a heart breaker for fans not just because it was poignant...but we saw just how deep the saga would have gone if Firefly had not been cancelled. Excellent series.....

The series is amazing! It's a crime that it got canceled and we only have 12 episodes.
The movie was okay, but nowhere near as good as the series. Plus, if you're a die-hard fan of the series, it will break your heart.

A friend gave me the boxed set and yes, its pretty good. I think they occasionally overdid the 'old west' set up, but on the whole it worked.I thought the film was even better and it tied up (most) of the loose ends. Oh, and if your into the new wave of sci-fi and you haven't caught up with the new Battlestar Galactica I can recommend it - first class T.V.

As far as TV goes, Firefly was about as good as it gets as far as I am concerned. I loved the show and hated that FOX was so shortsighted as to cancel it before it had any real chance of building an audience. The movie was not as good as I had hoped but I still enjoyed it.

You mean the show Firefly? It shouldn't have been cancelled. At least they were able to make a movie giving the fans some closure.
