the first thing you need to do is to expand the denominator to get rid the 3rd power: (1/2)(1/2)(1/2) = 1/8 . Now, put them in to similar fractions, specifically: find a common denominator, which is 8.
now rewrite the eqn with these common fractions:
x = 6/8
y = 3/8
z = 1/8
therefore you will have:
[(6/8) - (3/8)]/((1/8)
first, combine the numerator: (6/8) - (3/8) = 3/8
now you have:
(3/8)/(1/8)
whenever you have a fraction over a fraction, you can multiply the top and bottom by the reciprocal of the bottom, which is simply flipping the numerator and denominator; here = 8/1
so your denominator will be: (1/8)*(8/1) = 1/1 = 1 -- and can be neglected.
your numerator will be: (3/8)*(8/1) = 24/8 = 3.
ANS: = 3

It is not tricky; you have yet to master simple fractions; I answered one for you earlier - frankly the type of problem I masterd back in 5th grade. To divide a fraction, invert the denominator and multiply
[(3/4) - (3/8)]/ (1/2)^3 =
[3/4-3/8] * 2^3 =
[3/4 - 3/8] * 8 =
[6/8 - 3/8] *8 =
[6-3] * 8/8 =
6-3

3/4-3/8=3/8
1/2 to the third power=1/8
3/8 over 1/8 is equal to 3/8 * 8, which means the answer is 3.

(x - y) / z^3
(3/4 - 3/8) / (1/2)^3
First cube the 1/2:
= (3/4 - 3/8) / (1/8)
Now make a common denominator of 8:
= (6/8 - 3/8) / (1/8)
= (3/8) / (1/8)
Reverse the denominator and multiply:
= (3/8) * (8/1)
Multiply the fractions:
= (3*8) / (8*1)
Divide numerator and denominator by 8:
= 3

If you mean
(x-y)/(z^3),
just plug the values in and the numerical answer will pop right out.
(1/2)^3 = (1/8),
x-y = (3/4)-(3/8) = (3/8),
and (3/8)/(1/8) = 8*(3/8) = 3.

this is really easy. you need to know fractions! 3/4 - 3/8 = 3/8
1/2^3 = 1/8
so -3/8 over 1/8 = 3
