I saw part of this movie as a child on vacation when I couldn't have been older than 6 or 7. I only saw this one scene, but it has stuck with me (for obvious reasons). The scene involved (what I assume to be) a brother and sister who appear to be stranded in some kind of desert. They're young, probably 12 and 10. Another boy appears, maybe a little older. This older boy shoots a porcupine with his rifle and proceeds to BEAT the brother with the dead porcupine. What is this??? I'll be eternally grateful if someone can answer this question.

I'm 22 now so it would have been around 1990, but something tells me that it was a film made in the 70s.

Really the only thing that comes to mind is A far off Place with Reese Witherspoon and Ethan Embry (I believe it was before he changed his name though.. so Ethan Randall).. but no porcupine beating scene..
Kid goes over to africa on a school vacation with his parents.. they stay with a guy and his daughter who are there trying to catch poachers... The poachers are being backed by some big money.. all of the adults in the house are killed.. the two kids go off and have to cross the desert with the help of another kid.. ( a little bit older I think) to try and tell her "uncle".. and after that I'd be giving the story away to say anymore..
Once again I do not recall any scene with a porcupine.. (it came out in the mid 90's. )
