Adam 12?
Or the guys on Wild Wild West had a train car they rode around in.
(for those of you who did not get it, Adam 12 was a joke)

The only one I can think of is the TV show “Hec Ramsey’ (1972-1974) starring Richard Boone. The series was superficially a western but was actually set in the waning days of the wild west (early 1900s) when science was beginning to play a more significant role in crime solving than gunplay. As it was set in the early 1900s, the car you mention would seem to fit this era.

I'm guessing" "Route 66" Was the car an older model red Thunderbird, two-seater? "Route 66" was actually made in the late 50s. Maybe "Wild, Wild West" but I think that was on horseback.

the closest I can come up with is Route 66 but that was just a cross country road trip west.
