I'm 38 weeks and 2 days, according to doc had a show yesterday and cervix is soft had a few contractions this morning but they went away and I've been really moody. any idea how much longer before labour?

It could be just days away, especially you had some show. That's a really good tip off.
You can either try to relax.....or increase your activity and see if either will help soften and dilate the uterus and maybe get contractions going.

I wish there was an answer ot this...it could be 2 days or 2 weeks. My nurse gave me some helpful advice though and it ended up causing my water to break. She said, go home, take a nice hot shower (ask for some ambien, if you are not against taking meds) lay down and RELAX....sure as the sky was blue my water broke within an hour....its the relaxing that made my cervix soften enough for my water to break. It could be anywhere from a couple of hours, to days, to mayeb even a week theres really no way to tell but it will be some time pretty soon so good luck to you for when you do go into labour!

Nope no idea. My cervix with my first was soft at 38 weeks too. I was induced at 41 weeks.
