Inherit the Wind (1960)
In addition to being based on an actual event (the 1925 Scopes trial in which teacher John Scopes was convicted for teaching the Theory of Evolution to a high school science class), the movie has everything:
1. A great plot.
2. Fantastic acting, especially by Spencer Tracy, Fredric March, and Gene Kelly.
3. Terrific direction by Stanley Kramer and great black-and-white cinematography
4. Continued relevance, as intellectual freedom is *still* under attack even today.

This is a good question, but hard to say. I think the one that made the biggest impression on me was when I was a little girl. It was called THE ENCHANTED FOREST, I think. It was about a baby in a basket who was swept away in a river and then brought to the riverbank by a dog. The dog was owned by a kindly old man who lived in a hollowed-out tree and taked to all the animals in the forest. He raised the child and loved her very much...

A toss up between "Somewhere In Time" with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour and "Bridges of Madison County". Both are great movies. Like them because of the love story that they both have.

Hannibal Rising
-- Perfect. A bit of gore, Gaspard Ulliel with his certain charm make this just plain... a masterwork.
The Breakfast Club
-- Classic. Great movie, good actors, perfect balance and atmosphere.

I like The Matrix (part one of course). It's just a mind blowing experience to be honest. Original story telling, cool special effects mix with great fighting scenes. I actually watched it 8 times believe it or not.
