The latest news apparently is that the Syrians have been massing troops on the Syrian-Israeli border.
Syria has been demanding the return of the Golan Heights. Israel acquired this bit of land while being attacked simultaneously by Syria and Egypt; it is a crucial bit of land because when they had it, Syria used it as a platform from which to launch attacks on the kibbutzim and villages below in Israel.
Some Israelis believe that the Golan should be given back to Syria, in exchange for peace. Others disagree and are fearful about what losing the Golan would mean from a security standpoint. Syria knows full well that making returning the Golan a condition of peace puts Israel in an impossible position.
As for what it would mean for America: I sincerely hope that America would again prove a staunch ally to Israel, the sole democracy in the Middle East.
Remember, Syria funds terrorist group Hezbollah.
Israel and America have the same enemy: Islamic extremism.

It means we could all tune in for another 'Mother of All Battles' that lasts 30 minutes and hands most of Syria over to Israel. Is anyone in that region really stupid enough to attack Israel again? They tried to attack them with the support of every Arab nation in the region, and all it got them was a bloody nose.

Slightly increased military aid to Israel, I suppose. Why, is Syria planning to give up some more territory?

I imagine it wouldn't take Israel long to defeat Syria but I would worry about other Arab nations getting involved.

I'd look for a HOT Jewish/Arab chick on a NYC street, express my sympathy and then take her back to my apt to show some further consolation:) While at my place, I'd convince her how dramatically the quality of consolation would improve if we removed our clothes:)
After a passionate consolation, may be we'd make some Jewish/Arab food and discuss ways to end the war.

The US would end up defending Israel, causing Mideast turmoil as many Arabs think that the US is fighting against their rights.
It would cause more complications in Iraq, and cause more US casualties in the region.

It shouldn't mean anything. If Israel and Syria want to fight it out, then we should just sit back and let them. It isn't our fight.
