I was thinking in the long term (20-30 yrs.). And yes, I vote for Chinese too.

The Chinese don't need to rule us if they end up calling all the technological and economic shots.
It's possible they could attack and destroy us when the water wars begin sometime after mid-century. On the other hand, maybe we will just be providing customer service for them at a call center or something.

Accepting all your premises for the moment: Chinese.
(Russia is a declining power, just as we are, and English is a very common second language in India, while the Chinese are just racist enough to demand everyone learn thier language were they to 'win.')
Now, the right and left 'paradigms' aren't exactly failed, they're just incomplete, and, of course, they're mutable in any case. Partisanship is making it hard for the country to function, though, but I don't think it's anywhere near the point where a foriegn takeover is likely to result anytime soon.

Mao said, it is important to learn the language of the people you intend to conquer. So Chinese schools teach English.
Don't worry about learning it is being replaced by Wallmart.

I already speak Russian, but not for the reasons you seem to be hinting at. Chinese will be very useful in the future I believe.
