If you remember 1994 when the New York Rangers won the Stanley Cup after 44 years, remember the 2004 Boston Red Sox who won their first World Series since 1918, and look at the 2005 White Sox who also had a long drought. Anything is possible in sports these days.

Anyone can win the World Series, it's just some teams have a better chance than others.
With the way the Cubs have been playing, it's likely they can be a World Series caliber team.

The Cubs are a team on the rise. Ownership has demonstrated they want a winner by bringing in Soriano and Sweat Lou and it is now just a matter of time. Like most everyone else they need some pitching help but I really believe they have a good shot at the playoffs this year.

yes, they would follow Red Sox and White Sox whom don't won the World Series in more than 80 years; but both teams alway won the World Series. Hope Cubs win the World Series to end their drought of World Series.

The Cubs are the best team in baseball right now, if you haven't noticed. If the season started in june, the Cubs would have the best record in the MLB. They are a major league best 31-14 in that span. That beats the Tigers, Yankees, and every other team. If their gonna win the WS then this would be the year to do it, right?

I wouldn't count on it. Here are some things that may happen first though:
-Carla Zambrano stops touching his crotchal region after every pitch
-Mark Prior stops being a sissy and doesn't get hurt for 1 season
-Kerry Wood finally openly admits that he is gay
-Screw Pinella goes on Weight Watchers
-Jason Kendall hits 15 HR's in a season
-Daryle Ward goes on Atkins
They were meant to lose. They are supposed to lose. They are the Scrubbies, things will never change
