If your son's an infant, he probably shouldn't urinate right after being circumcised (because that'd hurt a lot). But he should definitely have urinated within a day after being circumcised, otherwise you must take him to the doctor's as something is probably wrong. The first time he urinates will be painful for him, as the urine will sting the open raw glans (penis head) and the wound (link 1).

If you haven't had your son circumcised yet, I'd suggest against it. There really isn't a good reason. If you're concerned about the hygiene of the uncircumcised penis, rest assured it's very easy to clean and keep clean (link 2). And most studies show no significant difference between circumcised and uncircumcised men in regards to contracting STDs/infections.

There have been recent announcements about how circumcision might decrease the chances of getting HIV, but what isn't as public is that good genital hygiene confers basically the same "protection" that circumcision would (link 3) and a country's rate of prostitution has a far greater impact on HIV rates than circumcision (link 4). So, as long as a person practices good genital hygiene and safe sex (i.e. condom use), then circumcision is pretty much useless anyway.

And lastly, the foreskin does have a purpose. There are many nerve endings in it that may contribute to sexual sensitivity (link 5). And several studies indicate that the foreskin might even be beneficial to the sexual satisfaction/pleasure of both the man and woman (links 6, 7, 8).

So if he's not circumcised yet, please don't put him through the unnecessary pain, especially at such a young age. In all probability, he will likely never have any problems with having a foreskin as long as he keeps it clean and practices safe sex (when the time comes).

If you mean immediately after, yes there should be no problem at all, just keep the area clean, warm water so the acidity in the urine does not sting. He should be fine though. This is a question you should be asking the Dr who is performing the operation.

His dirty and wet diapers will be very painful. You really should not do this to him! Have you ever watched a video of this ghastly procedure? It is extremely painful for the child -- some do not cry because they go into shock, and sometimes babies even die from being mutilated in this way.

lets see , out of all the baby boys born, a good many of them are circumcised and this has been going on for a good many years, so I suspect there is a good to excellent possibility that your son will soak a bi zillion diapers in the next couple of years.

Why would you want to get him done anyway!! please spare him the torture of having perfectly good sensitive skin ripped and cut of his penis. it is put there for a reason and that's why over 85% of the worlds men still have their foreskin like me and are proud of it. Teach him how to clean it properly like your own penis.
