this question has come up quite a few times recently - and i think the answer hasnt changed ! ithink that the japanese / european influx of cars to the usa begs the question - why ? for th best part - better quality, reliability, performance, styling. i think thats enough ! the american manufactureres should be looking at all these areas - in my humble opinion !

You should really buy what you like. Find a car that impresses you and that is in your price range - then do your homework to make sure that you are getting a quality, reliable vehicle. Personally I love my Pontiac and it makes me feel good to know that it was built in Lansing, Michigan and not Mexico like some other American cars. I don't know where all these other people get this crap about how American cars are trashy disposable cars because it's simply not true. I've personally owned three American cars (2 Pontiacs and a Buick) and all three have been very reliable. The American car manufacturers have come a long way lately and the quality of most of their cars is right up there with the quality of the japanese makes. So I would say test some imports and test some American cars and buy what car you like the most.

There are more American parts and more American labor in a Honda Accord than there is in a Ford F150 ! American cars are made elsewhere and foreign cars are made here much more than in the past . Personally I don't care for any of the newer model cars , but if I were forced to by just one I think it would be a Honda Accord .

If you forget all of the hype from Consumer Reports (who are slated towards Euro and Japanese makes) and the decades old stereotypes that permeate these discussions, you will find that American made cars are very much equal to the Japanese in quality. It's all perception, very little of it is based on fact.
A brand new Ford Fusion or Saturn Aura is every bit as good a car as the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

Buy American. Keep the dollars over here. We already have such a trade defeict that the interest alone is killing us. We need to keep out economy going and 1 of every 6 jobs in the US is dependent on the transportation industry. good luck.

GM,Ford or Chrysler trucks are the only way to go,a Japanese truck is just a want-to-be.Chrysler now offers the lifetime warranty on their vehicles and the Dodge Rams are very nice, had one go over 180,000 miles with no trouble.

Honda or Toyota all the way. I am partial to Toyota. Steer clear of Nissan, sorry resale value.
