Dry out the ignition system – spark plugs, coil, etc. On your engine are several sensors that feed information to the computer. Remove the connectors and dry them out. If the computer got wet, try drying it but be prepared to replace it. But sounds like you got water sucked into your air filter..which isnt good at all. If water got into the cylinder but its not locked up, remove the plugs and turn it over so the water spits out/dries. Could also be that the inside of the distributor cap is wet you can open it up and dry it. I havent worked on a 99 so Im not sure what the engine setup is. Sensor and hookup wise. If water got all over the engine your going to need to do a trial and error, dry everything thats wet, take apart the air fiulter, see if water is all over. Possible shop works might be needed, hope that helps. I DONT recommened starting it for a few days if possible, you need mechanic shop knowledge on this one. Keep starting it and youll mess more computer things up and trust me you dont want to ruin the main computer in a car. Thats why flood cars are junk (from new orleans and whatnot)

well the good news it still turns over.... but water (large amounts) can play havoc with electronics... so i will guess an ignition problem as the fuel pump and lines hardware would not allow water in unless the tank was under water....it may have injested enough water through the air intake to keep the spark plus from lighting the fuel mixture... i suggest removing the spark plugs and after unpluging the fuel pump spinning the engine over to dry out the cylinders.. check oil for water and change it if it is over full and milky looking

probably just got water on your ignition system
Don't continue to turn it over until you know the engine has had enough time to dry. Then try it a couple of times if it still will not start or starts and runs badly you will need to find what part/s you got wet and replace them because you might have shorted them out.

Yep... either your distributor, wires or spark plugs got water in/on/around them.
Water in your engine after going through a 'puddle'...unlikely.
Pull of each component listed above, dry, and replace. It is not a very difficult task.

Sounds to me like he's jerking you around. Compression readings are not too undesirable. you probably sucked some water into the device. i might flush the oil, exchange the plugs, and examine out back. Worse case state of affairs, the water hit the piston and it cracked or you have a cracked head. the top and piston would desire to get replaced/repaired yet you are able to desire to be extra acceptable off with yet another engine. i do no longer think of i might enable him swap aspects around on autos. i might hit a pair of different restore shops and locate somebody who seems honest and knowledgable. i comprehend it quite is perplexing interior the restore enterprise, yet take a huge gamble and go searching. interior the top you will sleep extra acceptable and you are able to desire to locate somebody you are able to believe for destiny desires.

If you're lucky, the electronics will dry out and not give you anymore problems. Let it sit for a while and try it again. If it doesn't start, then you'll have to get it towed to a repair shop.

You've got water in the engine. QUIT trying to start it NOW. You're going to ruin your engine. Tow it to a mechanic.
