Reduce to simplest fraction & Multiply straight across:

4/2 x 9/17

= (2/1) x (9/17)
= (2*9) / (1*17)
= (18) / (17)
= 18/17

First multiply the numerators:

4 * 9 = 36

Then multiply the denominators:
2 * 17 = 34

Now, you have 36/34.

You can reduce this to

18/17 (I just divided both the numerator and denominator by 2 here).

Just remember this:
a/b times c/d = ac/(bd)

a/b divided by c/d = ad/(bc)

It's that simple.
