Thank you Janet A ! I read somewhere that pirates attack private yachts and cruise ships,I really didn't know if it was true or not.Of course I wasn't talking about Jack Sparrow.

Yes, but mostly in the South Pacific. There was even a widely published story last year of a commercial cruise ship that had to "outrun" pirates it encountered off the coast of Africa. The pirates fired hand held rocket launchers at the ship, but were not able to board. There are always warnings to yacht owners to be careful in open waters of the South Pacific. Private yachts are often seized by pirates and used to smuggle drugs.

Yes they did, and now they still do.
There are many pirate 'attacks' in south asian/south pacific waters, and some that have occurred in south american waters, and a few that occur in the waters surrounding african coast.
They usually use small power boats rapidly come upon a yacht or small ships, and then board the ship, by use of machine gun threats, or threats that they will blow the ship up with explosives. some attacks do happen under the stealth of night as well.
The pirates in South Asia, which are rumored to be largely from the Indonesia and the Philipines, tend to very frequently to conduct raids on vessels, and occasionally on coastal villages.

Yes they do but they tend to use fast launches these days. Merchant ships are often undermanned so these scum can get aboard easily.They don´t mess with the Israelis or the Russians because both those nations ships fight back with no quarter given.
