You have to go with Kobe-Duncan.
In Kobe, you have the greatest individual player in the NBA, and in Duncan, you have the greatest team player.
Also, both of them are very driven, and their main goal is to win an NBA Championship, which would happen if they played together.
Take that, along with the fact that they are both first team All-Defense every year, and they have 7 rings between them, and this has to be the pick for best combo, by a mile.

Kobe and Tim Duncan would be a great tandem.
Their style of play and most importantly their ego/lack of for Duncan would really complement one another.
Offensively, there will be enough points for both of them since Duncan and Kobe gets their points and touches differently.
Both are also great defensive player, something that would be very hard to claim for any other duos.
Offensive and defensive prowess......hmmmm... the possibility.....grlglgrrl (Homer Simpson salivating sequence)
Additionally, Kobe would also provide all the excitement and drama in a game that Duncan severly lack so that people would actually watch the finals.

2 hardcore scorer would not work. However, Kidd and Dirk aren't dominant scorers so 2 passive scorers wouldn't work either. You need a playmaker and dominant scorer combination to win. I'd say Dwyane Wade and a Tim Duncan would be the best combination. The 2 offer playmaking, outside shot, inside scoring, and defense working together, plus they are very unselfish players.

If we are taking about fantasy "1-2 punch" match-ups, Kobe and "king" James would be my #1 combo!
If we are taking about actual NBA "1-2 punch" match-ups, Wade and Shaq are possibly the best.
Nash & Marion for runner-up???
