The Marlins are better than the Pirates at this point. Both teams need some help if they ever hope to be contenders.

Everybody is saying the marlins, but i think i will go with the pirates. lets look at it like this. all of the pirates good players are having down years and this explains the poor record. all of the marlins players are performing atleast as well as they should and they have a poor record. jason bay is as good a player as any on the marlins. when adam laroche is hot like he was all last year and for stretches this year, he hits as good as anybody on the marlins with the exception of cabrerra. freddy sanchez won the batting title last year. Xavier nady is a good player. i'm not taking away from the marlins, i'm just saying the pirates players are a lot better than the way they are performing. as far as pitching goes, the marlins don't have a pitcher that pitches as well as ian snell or tom gorzelany are this year. paul maholm is another starter for the pirates who just has great stuff. and all of the pirates pitchers are young. Dontrelle willis is the only marlins starter thats even a tad reliable.

but wait there is one place the marlins have the pirates beat. general mangement and coaching. and the pirates are a better team then them in spite of this

The Marlins. They have one of the best hitting team in the league and the Pirates suck at hitting. Plus if the Marlins ever become more consistant with their pitching then they would be a force in the East.

Marlins.

The Marlins have the D Train, Dan Uggla, Miguel Cabrera, Anibal Sanchez and Hanley Ramriez.

The olny guy I can think of on the Pirates that has all star quality is Jason Bay.

The Marlins by quite a bit.
The Marlins have a legitimate superstar at 3rd base, young potential major stars at 2nd base, shortstop, and right field, and a recognized star pitcher. At best the Pirates have a good left fielder, a 2nd baseman who has a very good average(but not nearly the power as the Marlin 2nd baseman), two decent shortstops, and a 1st baseman who looked like he was becomming a star in Atlanta, but has imploded in Pittsburgh.

Marlins have the better players. They seem to pick up and bring up better young talent than the Pirates do. Players like Miguel Cabrera, Hanley Ramirez, & Dontrelle Willis give them them the edge and make them more exciting to watch. Makes ya wonder how good they might be if they didn't move all their players after every championship run in order to collect big profits.
