does it really have to do with math?

Computer science has quite a bit to do with math. Its essentially the study of computer algorithms, and how to make them time efficient (fast) and space efficient (take up less room in memory).

Because these are the general aims, there are a lot of mathematical theorems that are used to prove certain ways of solving a problem with computers are faster and more efficient than other ways of solving the same problem.

Now computer science may not use exactly the type of math you would learn in high school, but certainly having high marks in high school math will grow you more accustomed to the type of mathematics you would encounter in a computer science in an undergraduate degree.

And just to clarify, computer science is not JUST coding computer applications. I'm an undergraduate student and I've taken many CS courses, and only a few of them actually required me to write functioning code.

Computers work by doing millions, billions, or even trillions of mathematical calculations per second, so yes computer science and math are fundamentally related. Math also has a lot to do with improving/determining the speed of a computer.

Learning how to be a computer programmer.

You will also learn about computer systems, but no electronics.
