Well lets go over your question in parts.
Why is everyone on USC's bandwagon? Because over the last 6 years they have the highest winning percentage in the country. They have produced three of the last 5 Heisman Trophy winners, and 2 National Championships. Oh yeah, and they have 5 consecutive seasons with at least 11 wins, something that only Nebraska 1993 -97, Florida State 1996-2000, and Oklahoma 2000-04 have done. So while there are diehards like me, who have been following the team since they were born and graduated there in 1990, just like any team that is wining fans jump on the wagon. How many people do you think were Angels fans, prior to their wining the World Series? A lot less I guarantee it.
Every year they get ranked high? I don't think so. Sure in the last 5 they have, but again look at the info above to support that. I mean what do you expect when a team has a winning record of 92.2% (59-5) in the past 5 years. When I was at school there we didn't make the top 25 a few times, so USC is not ALWAYS ranked high.
As to you assertion that they are not that good, well what does that say about the teams they creamed; Auburn 2X, Arkansas 2X, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame 5X, Michigan 2X, Iowa? Auburn was ranked #1, at home and was shut out. USC put 120 points in 2 games on Arkansas, and they won the SEC West. Oklahoma, hell the final score was only 55-19 in the NC game. Creamed Nebraska, and they were the Big12 North champs.
And again you say they play in a sorry conference, but the only team other than Texas to beat USC in the last 6 years has been a PAC-10 team. So how does that make the other conferences look? Don't get me wrong, I am not putting down the SEC/BIG 10/Big 12/ACC, but You can't blinly say that the PAC-10 sucks and give nothing to support it.
Right now is a great time to be a true USC fan, just like 05 was a great year to be a true Texas fan. But get over your own bias and look at some facts. USC has been the dominant program since 2001-2002. Being dominant does not mean you win every game, but USC has come really damn close in the last 6 years.
Fight On!

What the hell are you talking about? USC is always ranked high because they are amazing. Since 2003 they have ony lost 4 games. They are always on top of the recruiting boards. Just cause they are in the Pac 10 does not mean they have an easy schedule. They have to play some very tough teams such as Nebraska, Notre Dame, Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, and UCLA. The article you saw on Yahoo was about Stanford's head coach saying this USC team may be the best team ever. I dont think they are the best team ever and I am a diehard Trojan fan. I think they are a great team but you cant say they are the greatest team ever until the season is over.

Well provided coach Carroll can keep his team awake through a schedule in which the best opponent they face talent-wise is 5 loss Nebraska, i.e. they don't fall asleep against a weaker team a la UCLA last year, they have a title in the bag this year.
Personally, I think the trend continues. USC Trounces every OOC opponent they run across but out of sheer boredom has a huge party the night before they play ASU and winds up with 1 loss. Even though ASU is unranked USC plays and win the national championship amid mild controversy as some other team has 1 loss but to a far better opponent.

Why is everyone all over USC's jock? Because they have lost 4 games out of their last 60 by a total of 12 points. They have alot of players returning and they had a great recruiting class. I'm not a USC fan, but I like college football and I'm realistic. They have been the most talented team in the nation for the past 4 years.

I'm not a USC fan...I'm a Notre Dame fan, but USC seems to have the best recruiting classes since Carson Palmer...and they seem to justify the preseason rank during the season...I am also a New England Patriots fan, and it is ironic that Pete Carroll got fired by the Patriots, but has to be considered probably the best college coach in the country right now...

Listen you making a bias prediction here, base your info on facts please. They won 2 title last 5 years weather 1 is split or not it's still title. They lost 4 games the last 4 years who's else is better within the last 4 years, Texas, no only won 1 title how many times they lost, ok i make my point. And every year they got the top recruiting class every year. And this year they're #1 because how many returning players come back for this year, alot, that why they're rank #1 on everyone list and not Texas. So you think the Medias is stupid to pick them #1. Ok i makes my point, #1 or not games still to be play, argue at season end for legit #1.

Well, you've thrown up all over the place, but who would you put higher than USC, being objective of course?
It's based on schedule, returning players, coaches, etc.
They have had excellent recruiting yet again.
If you don't like it, make the case against them. Provide something other than the Texas win at the Rose Bowl two years ago to make your case.
I'm willing to admit that USC is a media darling, with a rah-rah coach and Hollywood types in the stands, but their level of success has rarely been matched the last 5 years, in the entire history of college football.
They've earned the advanced billing they are getting.

People try to pick the team that looks good on paper. Everyone knows that the team that looks best on paper will win. Hands down, USC looks pretty good on paper for the last couple of years.
USC is a popular school that happens to get a lot of press because of their coach.
People predicted that USC was quite possibly the greatest team EVER back in 2005. That proves it. USC should of been given the title without having to play a single game.
The problem is that the game still must be played. I think USC lost that game. Therefore, I think that USC should be given the title without having to play the game. If the game is played and USC loses the championship game, the people who predicted USC the greatest will quickly just say .. ahem .. cough cough ..
Anyway, it's the team that looks good on paper that wins. It's the referee's job to make sure they don't lose. USC was pronounced the GREATEST TEAM EVER in 2005. Uh, wait .. they lost. Those referees should of been fired. How dare they let the GREATST TEAM EVER lose!!
Quick answer, USC because they look good on paper guarantees they're the greatest ever so no reason to play the game. Everyone play for second!!

It just happens, there is always some team where people do that. A lot of it has to do with their recent success, even though they don't see it that way for a lot of other teams.
