Naw. Sacramento is a nice city and Old Town is fun. But to see and do? A State Capital. Sutter's Fort. Not worth the trip. There is a lot to do within a day trip around SF, unless its raining. Muir Woods, Sausalito, walk across the GGB, Wine Country. If you wanted to go someplace that required a drive and stay, go up the Coast to Mendocino, or down to Santa Cruz, Carmel and Monterrey.

The Mendocino trip is an amazingly beautiful drive along a very windy highway. You have to swap drivers part way because the driver has to concentrate on the road while the passenger is admiring the rocky coast. Monterrey and Carmel are better options if the weather is less than 100%. Shopping in Carmel (don't buy just pretend), historic Monterey, 17-mile Drive. Much better sightseeing than Sacto.

I think you'd have more fun exploring the coast of California either south of San Francisco (Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, Carmel, Monterey) or to the North of San Francisco (Pt. Reyes National Seashore, Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino)

There are great wineries located in those areas, secluded beaches, hiking, horseback riding, and more.

When our newspaper (Sacramento Bee) prints up a special section called "Things to do in Sacramento) it nearly always reads like this "Two hours north to Reno" "A short drive East to the Napa Valley" "Just south on HWY 80 in two hours you will find a whole variety of entertainment in the bay area" "Go west, my friend, to Lake Tahoe"

No, unless you have business here, Sacramento is not a place to come to just visit.

Sacramento is an ok city if your interested in history and museums then its ok, but SF has most of the same things. Really the only reason to go is the capitol.

I con-cure with the previous poster, go to the coast instead. Try Monterrey and the aquarium.
