Three weeks ago I took delivery of my 2007 Dyna Super Glide Custom. I tried to order saddlebags (Part # 90460-06B). They have been discontinued. in the 2008 catalogue the new part (90181-08), is similar, but not the same. The 2007 part number had a "silver spear with a bar and shield accent. The new item just has an embossed "bar & shield". The dealer tells me that Harley discontinued the 2007 item and left several dealers hanging with orders pending from customers for this item.

I've already checked on E-bay. My only option at this point is to pay $900 (plus installation) for saddlebags that I don't like. Even if I add the "silver spear" it won't look the same. Where can I get the saddlebags that I want?

Go to an upholstery shop or bike shop and get a quote to make the ones you want, probably be way cheaper than the dealership. This way you can get what you want, the way you want, and have something for your bike that you and only you have.

Try looking at some of the online stores for something similar. Leatherup.com is pretty good and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. You can also get saddlebags from Custom Chrome. I'm not sure if they have exactly what you want but it doesn't hurt to look.

When I order parts from my local independent shop, he starts with one of the dealers. It's not the nearest, or even the one I got my Superglide from. Point is, they call the network. I wanted a particular set of pipes. Turns out they had been dicontinued years ago. They found two sets. One was an inventory mistake (they didn't exist), the other set was in Texas, aready marked for another customer. All this info in an hour.

Go to another dealer in your area and tell them the part number to the bags you want, tell them that you know its obsolete but ask them to check the part availability on the dealer network in HDNET.

Why don't you call HD dealers and see if anybody has a set sitting on the shelf? Start near where you live and keep expanding out to neighboring states.

Go to JCWhitney.com for saddlebag options. Are you serious? Do you really need to pay somebody for installation of your bags???
