More Black people went to federal prison during the Clinton years than ever in the country's history. that is a fact. The Clinton administration spent roughly 2.6 billion dollars building up prisons and roughly 2.5 billion building up colleges. over 60% of the people doing time are there for drug offense. I direct result of the mandatory sentencing Clinton signed into law.

Help me out. Did Clinton have any policies that directly benefited Black people.

Vendetta - you are right. mandatory sentencing was enacted in 1986, and 1988 under Reagan and Bush. But the sentencing commision tried to amend them and Bill Clinton passed the bill that overturned the sentencing commision.

Your question reminds me of the idiot who emailed me recently saying that blacks who vote republican are weak minded. How ignorant! I can't understand why people are so blind that they can't see government and politics for what they are.

Both parties are endlessly working together to protect their own interests and ensure that we all remain oblivious. But that's an entirely different discussion, so I'll leave that alone and simply add a few tid bits to the truth that you've already posted....

--Bill Clinton publically supported the profiling of Hispanics by Arkansas State Police. He approved this racial profiling, in 1988, as part of a program to combat drugs.

--Bill Clinton has said that he's proud of how the late Arkansas senator, J. William Fulbright, lived his life and went so far as to award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. (Fulbright was a staunch segregationist.)

--In 1988, the U.S. Supreme Court stopped Clinton from replacing a duly elected black state representative with a white candidate.

It amazes me that so many blacks (and other people, too, for that matter) think DEOMOCRAT = PROGRESS IN THE FIGHT FOR EQUALITY. The past (and the present) reveals the fallacy in this thinking. Throughout history, many Republicans consistently vowed to fight for the constitutional rights of blacks and minorities. However, Democrats actively opposed Republicans on this issue. The Republicans passed the 13th Amendment which banned slavery (after the Civil War) and the nation’s first Civil Rights Act in 1866. Both were firmly opposed by the Democrat President, Andrew Johnson. Later, the Republicans went on to pass the 14th and 15th Amendments, requiring the states to obey the Bill of Rights and to recognize minority voting rights. Likewise, the Republicans passed Civil Rights Acts in 1875, 1956, and 1960. Despite the fact that numerous Democrats opposed the bill, they took credit for the passage of the Civil Rights Bill which President Lyndon Johnson pushed Congress to pass. Lyndon Johnson was a Democrat, but a vast majority of Republicans voted for the bill.

Does this mean REPUBLICAN = PROGRESS IN THE FIGHT FOR EQUALITY? No, no, no, no, no. Republicans have repeatedly told us that our government over-taxes its citizens to waste money on destructive legislation to help minorities. While the Republicans were anti-slavery, they only agreed to remove federal troops from the south (i.e. The Civil War) in exchange for giving Rutherford B. Hayes the presidential election. And it was during this time that our nation gave birth to a "new kind of slavery"-- share-cropping. Generally speaking, blacks remained loyal to the Republican Party for a while. But, as blacks were increasingly disenfranchised, the Republicans lost more and more of their votes. For the sake of competition, many Republicans embraced racism. Additionally, racist Democrats later became Republicans under the leadership of Strom Thurmond. In 1968, Richard Nixon won the support of these racists with his Southern Strategy.

I'll simply conclude by asking the following: Why in hell do people support partisan politics?

People go to federal prison because of laws put in place long ago by the Constitution and because they are criminals. You can't say on the one hand it's wrong for people to identify with the thug life as being the 'black life' and then blame the government for putting them there, they put THEMSELVES there. Clinton was the only president to see the racism in the justice system and pardon a boatload of wrongfully accused Blacks when he left office.

Policies don't benefit Black people, Black people benefit themselves as do Whites. Clinton did what any President should have done, he left people alone. He let people be themselves and did not stick their nose into peoples personal lives. Any Black who has every been exposed to Whites through school, social events, or otherwise, knows that the White race is a very nosy, rude race, and Blacks were shocked to see a White man that actually minded his own business. Unlike Reagan and Bush who played bedroom police and religion police where Americans can no longer do anything, similar to the re-institution of slavery.

Sleeping around on your wife (with little boys), getting caught in bed with gay sex and doing cocaine, meth and hard drugs are a White, suburban, Republican thing, and Black people can't relate to such immorality, they come from spiritual African roots. I think if Republicans had more morals, they could get a few more Black voters.

No, he didn't. Many black people follow their leaders blindly, and the Clintons know this. That is why Hillary tried so hard to get Jesse Jackson to back her. The more intelligent blacks do not care for the Clintons. Most of the higher educated blacks, and the ones that have no problem using logic in a discussion, do not like the Clintons. This holds true for whites. The less educated whites, especially those on welfare, typically vote Democrat.

However, it is my belief, due to many free education programs, more blacks will become smarter and as they own their own businesses, will begin voting Republican.

I don't know... but if you're committing crimes, you should go to prison regardless to what color you are.
Also, how much money is being spent on colleges now? Not much I'm sure. Every year around this time I hear about colleges raising their tuitions.
How about putting money into public schools K-12. And after school programs. That was cut out back in the Regan days.
I guess all of that money is going to a bunch of bombs and ammunition to fight a war we shouldn't even be fighting.
Maybe people liked Clinton because he actually spent time going to black communities and reaching out. Or, as stupid as it sounds... I KNOW a lot of people liked him because he smoked weed. "If he smokes weed, and gets head, he has to be cool". LOL. Yeah, I know it sounds retarded. But, I've actually heard people say stuff like that.

Personally, I don't trust ANY politicians. So, you kinda have to pick the lesser of the evils. None of them are looking out for black people specifically.

The Clinton administration was an era of econimic growth which has been undone by the current administration. Bill Clinton was not just trying to help black people, he was trying to help Americans. As far as black people loving the Clintons; well, a lot of whites and hispanics and asians do as well. Do you feel we are better off now? Can you name an administration that has done more to help minority races? And please don't mention anything about Lincoln freeing slaves. He was quoted as saying "This war is not and will never be about freeing slaves". Freeing slaves just helped the union win the war, if he felt he could have done so otherwise, he would not have freed anybody.

I don't care for ANY of the presidents of the past personally. Honestly their all dirty men who abuse power. Clinton fakes that he likes Black people just because as a community we embraced him. I think SOME Black people are lowering themselves down to the stereotypes about Black people. Clinton slept around, smoked weed etc.. and that is the stereotypical black lifestyle. Personally I don't love him or Hilary or any candidates I'm suspicious of all of them.

The Clinton's have proven to be the best wolves in sheep's clothing that I have seen.My mother and father loved them,I did not and do not.
It is a free country and one is free to be wrong.I do not understand it either.I have some deep issues and animus towards both of them.I am an NRA member and I detest the 1994 measures that were passed and egged on by the Clinton's.
Some of them are permanent.

Maybe because people had money in their pockets instead of the lint they have now. Do the crime, do the time.

@Philrobeson:

More intelligent educated black people?!! That's cute. You sound like the "less intelligent" white person.

@ cardova:

So he should snort coke, be an alcoholic and then sleep around. Clinton was no different than any other president. They do the same stuff, they just don't get "caught". And every black person does not smoke weed and sleep around.

Perhaps more Black people went to federal prison during the Clinton years because more Black people were convicted of a federal crime that had a prison sentence attached to it. Why is this the only problem with so many Blacks? Why is it seen as racist for Blacks, who do and are convicted of crimes, to be sent to prison? Should they get a free pass because they're Black? I bet not one of those of whom you speak are innocent. So what's the problem then?

I don't understand why Blacks tend to vote Democrat. Every Democrat knows that the Black vote is a lock and, as a result, they don't do anything to earn your votes. Why not make them work for it? Imagine what the Black community good get if they pulled together and worked together, like they did back during the civil rights movement, to get politicians to earn the Black vote.
