i had acrylic nails put on the weekend of june 30th. i decided that i was fed up with breaking them all the time so i took them off by myself. i didn't use acetone or anything, i kind of just took them off. but that was about 3 weeks ago and now my nails are back to there shortness. but whenever i paint my nails, the bottom part of the nail is higher than the top part....please help me! will my nails ever be the same again or did i completely ruin them?

Give them about six months as they'll be as good as new.

It sounds like you still have some of the acrylic stuck on the bottom part. Try soaking fingertips in acetone polish remover for a few minutes. This should loosen the rest of the acrylic and it should be able to be pulled right off.

They will be OK in time (once they grow out). When you pull off acrylic nails you also take with it layers of your own nail which is why you see the ridges or unevenness.

Once that part grows out your nails should be OK, but it will take awhile. Try using clear polish from Sally Hansen's to help build strength again.

Everytime I get acrylic nails, the same thing happens to my nails. You just have to wait it out. Your nails take a long time to grow out after you have acrylic nails on because it does alot of damage to your nail bed. They'll be back to normal soon, just wait it out.

They will take months to recover - sorry. Acrylics are nasty and cause problems as you have found. Real nails need to grow right out again. And taking them off yourself is a big no no. Sorry :(

dont worry that will grow out !! i did the same thing when i first had mine done. As your nail grows it should grow out with it, thats what mine did. next time though you are best soakign them in acetone and then peeling them off, it wont make your nails as weak as when you pull them off.

they will be fine they just take a long time to return to their normal state. my mom works at a spa and usually does nails and pedicures... i personally hate acrylics for the same reason you just described. you just have to wait for the damaged part to grow out which can take a long time.

They'll be fine, you just have to let that "trench" grow out. It is from where they buffed and drilled it down so the acrylic didn't look thick and like a press-on.
