I currently carry a property and casuality insurance license yet I would like to sell real estate as well. Is this legal? Would you as an employer see this as a conflict of interest yet the companies do not functition in the same industries and your employee or agent does not allow it to affect his/her productivity?

Btw, I potential employer stated they would see it as a conflict of interest because they would not want one or the other to take focus away from each other. Do you think that they were saying that because of the risk of hiring a new employee and not seeing the person's productivity? I agree it would only help the other's business.

I don't know why it would be any different than the huge numbers of real estate folks who also are lenders. If you are working for someone, they will enjoy the extra revenue, if you are an independent, then it doesn't matter what anyone thinks. Go for it.

I wouldn't. Heck, it could potentially open new sales leads.
