I found this interesting, but at the last fight scene at Hogwarts, Neville cuts off Nagini's head with the Sword of Gryfinndor. How was that possible? Griphook took it from Harry in the Gringotts vault and got away.

I know Harry pulled it out of the Sorting Hat, but obviously Dumbledore had put it there and sent Fawkes to help him. I know Harry tried the accio spell to make it come to him at one point and it wouldn't. I don't see how it's possible that Neville could've left Hogwarts to go search for it, it would've have to have been smuggled in by someone else through the Hogshead Pub. I'm just at a loss for who could've done it, as only Harry, Ron, and Hermione knew about the Horcruxes, and that the sword would defeat them.

I see.....apparently the Sorting Hat can in fact produce the sword, as both were the property of Godric Gryfinndor.

Dumbledore tells Harry that the sword of Gryffindor will always appear to a true Gryffindor when they are in need of it. Neville attaining the sword at the end of DH illustrates that his heart is true and honest and brave; a true Gryffindor.

Remember when Voldemort got the sorting hat and put it on Neville's head...Neville pulled up the sword from there bcuz "only a true Griffindore could get the sword" ... regardless that Griphook took it from Harry...but Gryffindore is the true owner (Bill who worked with the Gobblins forever told Harry not to trust them and that they always claim that everything they make is theirs even if the owner paid them what was due)

He was fighting for the greater good or whatever. Neville had the Sorting hat which had allowed Harry to pull out the sword in 2nd year. He showed he was truely a Gryffindor then. Neville refused to side with Voldemort so maybe that's why.

Ah, but where was the sword before Harry pulled it out of the hat in book 2?

I think the Sorting Hat has a magic way to produce the needed item under the right circumstances, no matter where it was.

the sword will present it to those true gryffindor's in need of help...
"Help will always be given to those at Hogwart's who ask for it."
Neville, being a true gryffindor, was able to pull it out of the hat just as harry did in book 2: harry potter and the chamber of secrets

Not sure how it's possible, but didn't Harry pull it out of the same hat in another book when he was fighting a basilisk? This is a question we have been debating at work.

Apparently the hat is enchanted to conjure the sword back to it. This is probably how the sword has been kept safe for so long.

Because it was shown in "The Chamber of Secrets" that the sword will make itself available to any deserving Gryffindor that is in need of it.
