What goes on there? Is it just a play and dinner or is it interactive?

I depends on the theatre but the ones that we have performed at are classy. The guests have dinner before the show and are entertained by a musician. They generally order dessert to be served at intermission. They get an announcement a few minutes before Act 1 will begin so they have time to use the facilities :-) then they enjoy the first part of the show. At intermission they have their dessert, etc. Then they see Act 2 and either go home or wait to see the actors afterward depending on which night it is and if the theatre has any specific policies about that.

I know many mystery dinner theatres are interactive. My husband and I went to one a long time ago and I got pulled in... thought I was on vacation!!!!!!! LOL!

Dinner theaters are different depending on the show. I have been to dinner theaters where you go to the buffet and eat and toward the end of the meal the show starts. I have been in 2 dinner theater shows where they were interactive. I could talk to the audience, which was very fun. I did a one man show a couple of years ago that was interactive in the beginning and I could add lib for a bit and then it trailed off and I separated myself from the audience as I began doing different characters. The audience had their dinner beforehand and I started at a specific time and there were waitresses serving drinks during the show. It was a great time. I can't wait to do it again!!

Depends on the place... Most are simply a play, musical, or some for of performing art and dinner.... others can be interactive depending on the play that they are doing! Call the one you are thinking about going to and ask if what they are doing is interactive! I think they are all a ton of fun!!!

You go & have dinner, and near the end of dinner people get up & wander about the dinner audience & the stage, and start talking, or there's a gunshot. Sometimes characters will question people in the audience: "Did you see someone over there? What did he look like?", and sometimes an audience member will be invited to come on stage for a short section. Sometimes, near the end, they even ask audience members for their hypotheses about "who did it?"
