Let's try to leave the potential Presidential candidates out of the mix though.

Because we can all read about their views and achievements on their campaign sites.

Oh and can we please be nice in our answers? I'm so sick from reading questions of people who only post a question to bash liberals, or cons, or Dems, or Reps...

What a waste of 5 points on those types of questions!

er Bruce... Romney isn't a member of Congress. He's a former governor.

I know you said leave presidential candidates out of the mix, but the only congressman I admire at all is Ron Paul, because he won't vote for any legislation that is not directly authorized by the Constitution. Everyone else has been corrupted to some degree or other, and hence the only answer I can give is to name Dr. No.

hmmmmm, this is an interesting question!
I agree that our current political atmosphere leaves much to be desired, no matter from which side you look at it (or attack it, as the case may be...)
I will say that the last rousing and eloquently stated sentiment I heard from a Senator came from Russ Feingold...
He brazenly called the President a liar and detailed the reasons why he should be impeached.
I am not a liberal, nor am I conservative and I do appreciate the fact that I live in a country where we are (supposed to be) allowed to say what we think!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I agreed with his and I liked the way he said it. I like that he said it so emphatically despite the opposition and potential for political ruin. Apparantly it was not a popular opinion, but if you heard the impassioned speeches he made, you know what I mean!

Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont ,a long term INDEPENDENT Congressman who spurns the corrupting lobbyists and fights constantly for the massive majority working class who have little representation in the corruption ridden Congress .

Because he refuses to be a part of the massive QUID PRO QUO corruption in Washington, Sanders will never become anything more than he is today unfortunately because few if any wealthy individuals or corporations will give him enough money to ever be a contender .

WE GET WHAT WE DESERVE !!!!

Joe Lieberman. He had the guts to stand up to the Radical leftists and Move-on.org idiots that have taken control of the Dumocrat Party and beat them in the general election. He uses reason instead of partisan ideology though I am a conservative, Lieberman I could vote for.

Someone down below likes Kennedy but he's "encountered a few roadblocks" ...Like Chappaquiddick?

. Although I am from the west coast and have no say or influence on his career I would say Kennedy; mainly because he came from a strong political family and in spite of the family losses based on politics he has remain in office He is continuously reelected by the voters so he must be doing what they want. I can not agree with many of his comments but he never seems to get upset with his political losses; just keep moving on.

Fred Thompson.

Because all he has done is appear in a tv series and now he's qualified to be President of the United States.

I know, you said to avoid the candidates, but I couldn't pass this one up.

Seriously, I think I admire Tom Coburn (R) Oklahoma. I like him because he is trying to clean up Congressional spending and doesn't care what they think of him. He is pretty much a pariah now, but he keeps hacking away at their "earmarks" and pork spending.

Joe Lieberman gets my respect as well for standing up for what he believes.

I can't say right now because whoever it is can't be heard.

Between the Democrats absurd posturing over the war and Republicans sickening attempt to stir up anger about illegal immigrants, there seems to be no rational voice.

Hands down,
Joe Lieberman
I don't agree with much of his politics, but he is not folding to the weak kneed democratic stance on fighting, (or not fighting), radical Islam even to the point where he lost the democratic primary.

He puts the US before his party.
