YOUR WASHER MAY BE LEAKING A LITTLE OIL IN THE WATER. IF YOU LET IT SET IN THE WASHER IT CAN ABSORB IT FROM THE SIDE.

What kind of spots?? Sometimes if colors have not been separated properly a new item of clothing will bleed its color a bit and make spots.
If the towel ever got anything a bit greasy on it the spot just reappears and won't go away. Be sure to check that it isn't your washer that is leaking a bit of oil into your wash.
If you add your liquid laundry soap after the load is in the washing machine the soap itself can add a spotty, stain like mark. It is faint mind you but it is noticeable none the less.
Sometimes if the dye job on a cheaper towel isn't done properly the color fades in spots. I am not sure how or why but i had some burgundy towels that did this.

Natural dyes. A lot of clothes and fabrics are not color fast. Often times the clorine in city water, or even just the ph of well water is enough to release the color.

I dont know how many clothes I've ruined by washing them.

If theres a magical way to stop it from happening I'd like to know what it is. Even washing before use doesnt work.

1. They're cheap.
2. They're picking up spots of grease from the dryer.

They get worn out by the washing. Try using Tide so they wont lose their color or anything.
