Let x litres of 60% soln be mixed with 90 lit of 90% soln to get 90+x lit of 80% soln
By the problem,
0.60x+0.90*90=0.80(90+x)
=>0.60x+81=72+0.80x
=>0.60x-0.80x=72-81
=> -0.20x= = -9
=> x= -9/-0.20
or x=45
Therefore 45 litres of 60% solution should be mixed

enable the quantity of the 20% alcohol answer be V litres. The 20% answer is composed of 20% × V = V/5 litres of alcohol. The ninety% answer is composed of ninety% × 60 = fifty 4 litres of alcohol. the appropriate answer is composed of fifty 4 + V/5 litres of alcohol in 60 + V ltres of answer, this would be a 30% answer, so (fifty 4 + V/5)/(60 + V) = 3/10 multiplying the two components by potential of (60 + V) fifty 4 + V/5 = 3(60 + V)/10 multiplying the two components by potential of 10 10(fifty 4 + V/5) = 3(60 + V) 540 + 2V = one hundred eighty + 3V subtract one hundred eighty from the two components 360 + 2V = 3V subtract 2V from the two components V = 360 360 litres of the 20% answer is essential

to get 80% soln. the 60% and 90% solns. should be mixed in the ratio 1:2 respectively.
as 90l of 90% soln is used hence((90/2)*1)= 45l of 60% soln. is mixed.

.6x +81 = 72+ .8x
9 = .2x
x= 9/.2 = 45 liters

Here's the equation you need to solve:

0.6a + 0.9(90) = 0.8(a +90)
0.6a + 81 = 0.8a + 72
9 = 0.2a
45 = a
