Do you believe the charitable fundraisers who call you on the phone at home?

They say they're raising money for needy children usually - in some area of need. Do you believe them and send them money?

I don't advise it, they tend to share your number and you get called every day by a different person if you agree to give over the phone. I agreed where I work to donate to the make a wish thing from my company, they had this way they set it up where it was levels of donation or something to that nature. I picked one and though all was well until I started getting calls constantly using the same format, different charity. I don't know if my company's money went to good use or not, but now I just tell them no. I don't want to deal with that many people with their hand out! If its a kid running around having to sell ads for the school program and I can see the child and get a receipt then I'm more than willing to donate to help out, but I quit trusting over the phone folks!

I make them send me out information on the charity, then make my determination as to whether I'll send money. If they won't or can't as some of them say send me information then they get nothing. My trust factors aren't very high when it comes to ppl calling wanting donations.

I usually ask them to send me a brochure and I'll consider it later. They usually back down at that point, or just hang up. I never give anyone my financial information that calls me and asks for it!

Never! I only send funds to two charities and neither of them call me.

I don't care if they are legit or not. I give my charity money to the animal shelter and church and let them decide what to do with it.
