Its one thing to throw at a guy and, if the next batter gets like a count worked up and gets hit, but it wouldnt make sense to get thrown out in his major league debut. Did it seem accidental?

There is no possible way a young pitcher like, that is trying to make it in MLB, is going to throw at hitters. The Phillies never believed it and we shouldn't either.

Really J-Far, you need to take a chill pill (or burn in hell- that's my pick)

It was an accident, but I still will hate Lannan for a while now (or at least until he pegs someone like Beltran or Wright, ha ha). He might not have deserved to get thrown out for hitting Howard, but I was glad to see him go before anyone else got hurt.

Philly fans are always looking for a reason to get worked up. It was accidental. He was a rookie pitcher, on the road, in front of hostle fans. Unfortunatly he hit Utley and Howard. If he would have hit Burrell and Helms, I dont think that there would have been quite the uproar...

I think it's accident, the guy just got his first start ever, may be little nervous or have some control problem. But Philies fan don't think so as Utley got a broken hand....

Man, I dont care if he was throwing at him intentionally or not. John Lannan is my new favorite player. Anyone who hurts someone on the Phillies gets respect in my book.

If you want to hit someone, throw it on the first pitch! The guy just has control problems, give the rookie a break!

I doubt a pitch in his first game would want to get that kind of a reputation. I think he should have stayed in the game.
