They are one of the few teams that really doesn't need to make a trade to win it all this year. They will keep their eyes open and if something comes a long they might pull the trigger, but I wouldn't expect anything major happening with the team.

The Red Sox are another one of these teams that likes to use trade-talk as fodder for keeping their (rabid) fans -- talking about "how great it would be" and what kind of "genius" their young GM still is, for even considering so-and so.. they get kudos for picking up Beckett and Lowell, although it cost them an everday superstar in Hanley Ramirez (plus others).. and Lowell was a $7mil bust that they didn't want, and made the GM "look good" at that!

Teixiera would be great in Boston. But, the Red Sox would have to spend another $16-20mil per year, to retain him and that would be Topic #1 all next season. That's the problem, along with what it would take -- to get him now (young pitching). He would strike fear in the Bronx, at that... as would the Red Sox getting Todd Helton. But, then again.. that's more money on the Red Sox payroll -- and the Saux management has already shown that they're comfortable with reaping the rewards from 2004 and saving some $$$ now and for the foreseeable future... they're in 1st place, and aren't throwing away any more money (remember, they threw $50mil+ just to TALK about Dice-K!).

Put J.D. Drew on waivers to get rid of his expensive contract, keep Pena in Right Field (seriously, he would be a great everyday player with the chance to work on his swing), trade for Andy LaRoche (Moss and Tavarez?), and try to go for Texeira (but no more than ellsbury, youkilis, gabbard and bates). Lugo is not doing bad and seems to have it, Manny is awesome, so is Crisp, ortiz isn't doing so well so we need a power bat (ortiz will be good next year), varitek is our best option, youkilis slumps in the second half, Lowell will give us two great picks in the draft if he is signed by another team, pedroia is solid, Brady Clark, Eric Hinske, Alex Cora, and Doug Mirabelli are acceptable, daisuke matsuzaka, Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, curt schilling make a good rotation, and the bullpen dominates with papelbon, okajima, delcarmen, and timlin

I don't think the Red Sox will make a trade. I would like to see them dish Willy Mo Pena and Julian Tavarez, but I'm not the GM. I think in all likelihood, that if they were to make a trade...it would involve Brad Lidge (closer) from the Astros. I just don't see it happening.

They have an excess amount of starting pitching so look for them to trade a Kason Gabbard and Julio Lugo to the St. Louis Cardinals for Jim Edmonds and Jason Isringhausen

They may trade for Mark Texiera. They need a real first baseman. Then they can leave big papi at DH unless it's either interleague play, or the world series at the national league park.

The question is who would they consider trading. When everything is clicking why would you want to give someone up? I think it would be nice to get some more power in the lineup but I don't think it will happen.

I think we will trade Wily Mo Pena for Solomen Torres from the Pirates.

We may also go after Teixera, we could send Lester (or Gabbard), Delcarmen and possibly a prospect for him.

They'll trade Wily Mo Pena and possibly a minor leaguer or two for some more pitching. You can never have too much pitching!

NO. They are doing well with what they have now. I don't think they would want to trade anybody.
