If the pain is really bad you should talk to your doctor so that they can prescribe something for you. I don't think you are supposed to take glucosamine supplements while pregnant because it can throw off your vitamin and mineral balance.

Actually there's a good chance that your hips are causing problems because of the pressure on your back. With the weight of the baby your vertebrae change positions slightly and can put pressure on the fluid sack between them. This fluid inflames your nerves to let your know that there's a problem. Fortunately it goes away shortly after birth.
One of the best things I've found is pregnancy massage. Tell them that your hips bother you and how badly. Massage made big difference and I'd be decently comfortable for a week or two between visits depending on how much I worked. I didn't have any luck with Tylenol or glucosamine. I'm going to ask about an anti-inflammatory that's safe to see if that helps my back which is the cause of the hip pain.
I've also tried chiropractic but it doesn't seem to be making a difference with the hip pain.

Glucosamine helps with joints that are worn away from osteoarthritis - you do not have that.
Your weight and joint alignment has changed.
Try checking your shoes for uneven wear on the heel and sole. New more supportive shoes may put your frame back into alignment and take the stress off your hips.
Also, when you sleep on your side , try using an extra pillow to prop up the upper leg higher. This will also help keep your frame aligned and take off the stress on your hip or knee joints.

I don't know about that but I know what you are going through. I have had chronic pain in my hips/lower back and my pelvis for some time now and its become unbearable. I'm 37 weeks and asked the DR today if he would induce me b/c I am in so much pain and he said he wouldn't induce until 2 weeks after my due date. So I'm skrewed. He gave me Vicodin a while back, most normal DR's probably wouldn't give a pregnant women Vicodin but he's horrible, I wish I would have switched Dr's when I had the chance!
Unfortunetly theres not much you can do, talk to your Doc. he might give you some ideas.

Are you walking alot?? I have the same problem, I walk about an hour or more a day and one day walked around 4 hours and I could barely walk. I went to the doctors and she said to take it easy, only walk for 30 minutes then rest. Who knew?
But the only thing that helps for me is to stay off my feet for a day if my hips are hurting that bad and the doctor also said you can ice it .
Good luck

No I wouldn't I am right there with you. I got a pregnancy massage. Find a pool and do laps, Walking. There is no pressure in the water and the little bit of exercise will do you a world of good it does me, and will help you to have an easier labor. This is coming from someone who is 25 weeks preggo.

I had the same problem. Been sleeping with a good pillow between my legs, right around my knees. This has helped tremendously. Give it a try...hope it helps. Congratulations

Ask your doctor! This is not a good forum for getting medicinal advice if you're pregnant, there are a thousand reasons the answer could be one or the other, ask your doctor or midwife.
