Reading another question got me wondering..why is PDA such a rare thing in our culture? My girlfriend and I don't have a problem with this, but I notice it's such a rare thing to spy another gay/lesbian couple at least holding hands..why is that?

I do not have a problem holding hands, hugging or kissing in public. I do not open mouth kiss or grope in public. I also do not engage in PDAs in certain bars. I have an advantage, due to size, generally only drunks will bad mouth me to my face.

My gf and I are quite open w/ pda. We don't get into anything more than a kiss, like any other couple, but there is no doubt about our relationship. My previous relationship, we didn't have any pda because my ex didn't want to cause a scene if there were any children around...I don't feel the same. People are still afraid of causing issues w/ the anti-gays out there, and I don't blame them. It is still a volatile topic with very strong emotions on both sides.

I dont think guys like too much display of public affection to begin with so when you put two gay guys together I would say it wouldnt happen a lot in public. Although when in safe environments like a gay club it happens all the time when people are among their types....where they are in a more comfortable environment.

I don't have a problem with displays of affection as long as both involved aren't having the equivalent of sex with their clothes on. I can see why some don't like displaying affection in public but I'm not one of them. People will always stare, whisper et cetera so I'm not going to change my actions just to try and stop them. =)

I know that as a gay man, there are people that get really violent when they see two men showing pda. We have to be very careful. That's why I like to go to gay bars, we can show it there and no one says anything. I would love to be able to show affection to who I'm with, whenever, but alas, society won't let me.

I don't have a problem with it at all. I think it is perfectly natural...Some people just feel that since they are gay they shouldn't show it...

it is their conscience. They know in their hearts that what they are doing is morally reprehensible.
