bough a new computer 2 weeks ago. The first time we took the "picture card" out of the digital camera and put it into the slot for it on the computer tower, the monitor immediately displayed a list of pictures form the card for us to wiew.
Yesterday, put card in slot to see new pictures, and nothing happened.
Is something wrong, or do we need to open a program or something. I'm not too computer literate. Thank you for your help.

always save that to a folder when it loads in so you can retrieve later, I use my HP printer, which has cards slots on it and if I dont do that I have a heck of a time locating them later, as mostly I was choosing view rather that store..afterwards you can place them in my pictures if it doesnt send them there right away, which is a good place to begin looking for them, it may have a folder that you are not familiar with the name, so open them all and see whats there, then you can rename that folder so you can find it easily.
also, did your camera come with a drive disk to install its own program? its worth using, if not, go to the website of the manufacturer and see if they offer a download, I have bought two cameras in recent history and both had programming of their own for downloading pictures and manipulating them and also a neat framing and printing program.

If you double-click on "My Computer" on the desktop, with the card in the slot, there should be at the end of the list of different drives, a "removable drive" or something similar to that. (Or there may be several, depending on the specific design of the card reader). Double-click on the removable drive and see if it can be read. If not, you may need to take the machine to a technician, just make sure you tell them that if they can't do anything, you want to machine returned AS IS. Some lousy tech shops are fond of wiping the entire PC and pronounce the problem "fixed".

open up mycomputer, check to see if there is a removable device listed there with your pictures on it.
