He's not under that much pressure. The hardest homerun record to break is the season record, and he's already done that.
He only needs three homers to set the record, and even if he has to wait till next year (not likely), so be it.
If I were the manager of the Giants, I would put their best over-all hitter right behind Bonds in the line-up, so they can't pitch around him...

Stupid thought because you're putting your team in jeopardy of giving up runs. One man does not make a team, and who's to say that the #4 hitter is not a good player.....

All of this direct and indirect hatred towards Barry Bonds is lowering the IQ of people across the US as evidenced by this question. I think that they should screen Yahoo Answers for retards and people under 18 because the questions are getting ridiculous and have no sense to them.

(Also, walking him every time just boosts his MLB record for walks..... I guess these stupid people don't know that this would also help Barry in his quest for HOF induction.....)

Bill James once proved that walking Babe Ruth every time he came to bat hurt far more than pitching around him (except for situations in which you would normally walk him), even on a seriously bad team. The same applies for Barry Bonds: walking him every time will create more runners on base, making more RBI opportunities, which leads to more runs scored in a game, making better chances of winning, creating more wins, making the Giants a better team.

That said... walk him anyways! I never want to see an a**h*** like him every break Aaron's record. Who cares if the Giants are better? Their pitching won't hold them up, and they won't make the playoffs anyways.

Sure, but it is an unoriginal thought.

Walking Bonds every time up (especially with how poorly he's been hitting lately) is, well, dumb. The goal is to win games, and Bonds -- yes, even Bonds -- makes outs when he swings the bat. The defense wants outs, not baserunners. Work toward that end.

Its going to happen, and some pitchers actually have what the sport is based around...balls. A lot of pitchers will not ruin their careers, especially veteran pitchers who have a lot of wins and respect in the league, to be a total coward and not pitch to him. Actually some pitchers enjoy the challenge.

Does SF play Boston any time this season. I'd love to see Curt Schilling get back and pitch against Barry, that would be interesting considering what Schilling said about him...

I hope not. He's never been proven guilty to using steroids, so why do you people keep going on about how he's a cheater. He's innocent until proven guilty, and right now he's innocent! If he was proven guilty, then he should be punished, and his records banned, but right now, he's still playing, and is going to keep playing until he's guilty, so no, people shouldn't walk him, so he can't beat the record. Let him bat, and let him break the record! It's going to be broken eventually, so just let him break it.

There's your answer.

what would that solve he would eventually get up and you would have to pitch to him woyuld you rather pitch to a guy or lose the game just because you dont want him to break the record. Baseball wants him to beat the record and so does everyone else. Theres only one person who doesnt and thats hank aaron and i don't blame him its a strong record that he wont carry anymore. Anyways arod will break it in another 6 years

What a cowardly & cheap way out. If the pitchers have no confidence in striking Bonds out than they don't belong in the game.
