HGH and steroids are truly detectable, otherwise the players busted currently would not have had a chance to cover up their results.

HGH and steroids will not enhance your performance in baseball to hit HR's or throw over 100 mph. It's proven that it takes away your eyesight slowly, makes your muscles too tight so that you cannot swing a bat and makes you paranoid or psychotic, so that you would not be able to face thousands of people in the stadium. You'd be holed up in a cave somewhere, not able to play baseball.

He's just talented, drugs or not.

Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is detectable by using a blood test. However, per the MLB/Union agreement only a urine test can be used. Of the (53) banned drugs about a dozen of them can not be detected without using a blood test. I believe the MLB/Union policy should be expanded to include a blood test. The program that is in place is actually a good one. It is controlled by an outside third party subcontractor who is not under the control of MLB or the union. Players to be tested are randomly selected by the computer and neither MLB, the Union, or the Players are notified in advance as to who is going to be tested, and when. It is estimated that all players, that have been in the league since testing started in 2001 have been tested about (50) times, including Bonds, and that includes off season as well. Per the MLB/Union agreement, no information of any kind is released to the public involving the testing until a player tests positive a second time. At this point in time we all know about it and penalties are enforced in accordance with the agreement. There is a big misconception on how good this testing is and I believe it could be even better if the blood test was implemented.

I would bet many more player take HGH than steroids because it is undetectable. HGH helps player recover faster from certain types of injury so it is pretty tempting. As for the second part of your question it does help there stats.

The premise of this question is fallacious. HGH is detectable. Whether the MLB Players Association "allows" MLB to test for it is another issue, however.

Theres no telling how many people took them. We know Shef and Bonds took them. Bonds has better numbers than the others because he is a better player than them.

One thing for sure. Bonds isn't the only one doing it like the media & many fans seem to think.
