Does cruise control affect your fuel? I mean does it use less fuel, more, or does it not affect it at all?

That would depend on the driver and the terrain that you are covering. In most cases, I would say that it will help to save gas by keeping the car at an even speed. If you are in hilly regions then you can do better yourself by letting the car slow a little going up hill and picking up more speed while going downhill.

On the average, run with the cruise, as long as there is not a lot of traffic on the road.

Gee I wish I could use my cruise control but most idiots surrounding me every day on the highway cannot for some reason maintain a friggin speed! As for fuel, it will use less cause the car will be at a constant speed as opposed to you pushing the pedal. How ever air conditioning is a huge factor also when looking at fuel economy. Just my $.02 though.

The cruise control itself doesn't use any fuel, however keeping a steady speed is more efficient than constantly speeding up, slowing down, etc. For example - setting your cruise to 65 on the highway is going to get you better mileage than speeding up to 70, slowing down to 60 - you get the idea.

Hope this helps!

I have heard a number of consumer experts and mechanics say that using cruise control, definitely saves on fuel consumption. I don't think it would make much difference on stop and start driving in the city, but deffinitely when you're going on the expressway.

When possible, use the cruise control.

It keeps a steadier pace, which uses less fuel
