If I was jerked over like the Palestinians, I would be rather upset too and would fight for my land back.

But even your basic facts are wrong!
There never was a place called Palestine - not ever. It was just the name the Romans gave to Judea, where the Jews lived, to weaken their rebellion and connection with the land.
The original 'Palestinians' were Jews - not Muslims, not Arabs. There have been Jews living in that area for close on four thousand years. It's only because they worked so hard and created jobs and opportunities that Arabs from neighbouring states arrived, from Syria and Egypt and Jordan.
Israel was not created 'illegally'. The land was partitioned; this was decided by Britain which had the mandate, and ratified by the UN. The Jews accepted their half of the land and were happy. The Arabs rejected it and invaded - within twelve hours of Israel declaring independence.
And please answer this: if this land is SO valuable to Muslims, how is it that for instance, Jerusalem is not mentioned ONCE in the Koran? And why then do the Muslims face Mecca when they pray?
Jews, on the other hand, always have said 'Next year in Jerusalem' in their prayers etc, and they built synagogues that faced towards Jerusalem, for centuries.
The 'Palestinians' as we know them today only came into being in 1969 - some two decades AFTER Israel was reborn. And they are in the camps because that land was acquired by Israel during the wars that the ARAB countries started!
What about all the Jews kicked out of Arab states? Israel welcomed them in. Pity all the massive, rich Arab nations didn't do the same for their Muslim brethren.
EDIT TO BOB MC - your answer is excellent and spot on.

Israel was created by a mandate from the UN, so the 'legality' of Israel is based on a world-wide political organization, which was taken more seriously back then than it is today. Also, at no time did Israel not welcome any Palestinian who wanted to live peacefully in Israel. Many did and still live there today. That thousands didn't had to do with the religious extremism so common in that region. All of the surrounding Arab countries vowed to militarily destroy Israel, and made it very difficult for any Arab to stay there without facing criticism or being ostracized. Someone brought up the good point that the reason Isreal has survived and even thrived since, is because it had and still has allied countries who help them. If the Palestinians received any help, mostly monetary, from the enormously wealthy neighboring Arab countries, then they would have their own state, with an infrastrucure and everything else having one's own country entails. Instead, they are virtually ignored by other Arabs, and often resort to terrorism and violence on innocent Israelis, which does not help them in the world of international politics. Israel plays by the rules, Palestinians do not. End of story.

Britain did not displace 750,000 Palestinians. Those people were displaced after the state of Israel was created, in a territory where Jews were the majority of the population.
As for Israel being Illegal it was given sovernty by the nation that owned the territory (Britain) and certified by the UN.
I cannot think of a more legal way to create a state.

Most of the world map to day is a result of European expansion, colonization and politics. Every border today has been established through military might; I don't see how one country can be legal and another illegal.
At the time Israel was created by the UN, 77% of Palistine was committed to an Arab State and only 23% to a Jewish state. So clearly Jordan is no more legal than Isreal. Dislocated population, both Jews in transjordan and Arabs in Isreal were dealt a hard blow and lost their homes. The primary difference is that Isreal had allies that helped it develop and it was able provide new opportunities to immigrants. Unfortunately, wealthy Arab states have not offered the same help to displaced Arabs, leaving them without aid trapped on Jewish reservations. Once again, USA and UK are blamed for not helping everyone, yet nobody expects the wealthy oil princes to aid with the relocation and re-establishment of Arab Palistinians in Jordan. It is hypocritical to chastise the US for choosing to help an ally and not see the lack of comparable charity from Arab states that could have helped Palistinains become successful citizens of Jordan long ago.

Where are you going with this question?
You have an underlining view that you want people to agree with?
They're not ignored in NY.
If you watch or read the news here, you'd see local tristate news, Iraq then Israel...every day.
That's of course after the half hour of news about Lohan, Hilton and Spears.

Rightfielder, i think he meant disregarded the fact that Israel was established "illegally". We are concerned about Iran because they want to blow up an illegal country... Which they still shouldnt be doing and probably wouldnt, they would just force Israel to go back to 1967 boundaries.
Also, Roman empire? Hmm, who was running North America back then? Yeah, let's just go back to the borders/population distributions of two millenias ago.
But I guess I'd agree with the poster who said that people with power grab land. I guess that shapes history. At some point, maybe 50 years after Romans took away Israel, Israelis felt the same way as Palestinians feel now... And in 2000 years, maybe Palestine will be established and we will say, "Well, 2000 years ago Israelis took Palestine." etc. Just happens in this world, I guess. But I agree, it still is not right.

No offense, but you're not very educated, are you?
The "facts" that you stated so confidently are actually very wrong, yet you allow yourself to determine decisively that Israel is illegal.
Accusing the answerers who told you that you are wrong with demagogy is easy, but pretty foolish. It does not change the fact that you're wrong.
Fortunately, ignorance can be fixed. My honest take is "go and learn, young Jedi"; then you may have your opinions.

Wars are all products of lies, deceits and lies... to finish the phrase of the only who seems to know the answer but didn't finish it! As to anyone ignoring the facts, that would be because so few on the planet are aware of any real truth that isn't spoon fed to them by the media who gives them only what the "real rulers" out there, really want them to give you!
Unless you're willing to dig for all truths as for fine gold, this is certainly not where you will find it! You are being duped to the max! and anyone can say anything.. It is all rather irrelevant in the grand scheme of things! As long as you keep calling it "The United States of America", you don't really know what is going on! or who it really is that truly rules them! If it is true that "everyone ignores Israel" you can rest assured that "Israel" doesn't ignore anything!!! and time will soon prove the verity of that statement!

The questioner actually laid out some facts and all he gets is people telling him to take a history class! This only goes to show that he is probably right, since no one can come up with anything other than calling him an idiot WITHOUT BACKING THEIR OWN VIEW. Why can't a single, not a SINGLE person, give him a straight answer based in solid historical backing? I can't because I think he is right... But to shut us up, can one person just EXPLAIN why he is wrong? Didn't think so.
Establishing a country illegally just because they have a democracy is not right, it is just a neo-conservative agenda which, as you can deduct from world events of the past 50 years, is the real reason why there is no peace.
Ofcourse, those people had to go somewhere, but if any Western nation had the balls to acknowledge that it was established ilegally, the peace process would move along. We don't want peace, we want Israel to dominate that region.
No peace in the Middle East is actually because of the British imperialistic legacy (Palestine was owned by the British prior to Israel...) and its offspring, the modern neocon movement.
Do not be brainwashed. It is because we meddle where we should not meddle that we have terrorists looking to kill us.
