I am using Scottrade.com to buy/sell stocks. However, Scottrade does not have Level II quotes for OTC stocks. I would like to use other online services to get more streaming information especially the Level II service. Other online brokers need $2000 to open an account (I am not willing to spend that much to switch accounts at this time since the fees are higher than Scottrade). In addition, some of the live quotes services charge more than $50/month to obtain such information. I am looking for a Level II service that is cheap since I can get most of the other information either online or through Scottrade.com. Anyone has suggestions?

Scottrade has something called Scottrade Elite. Its level 2 quotes and some research and stuff. Call them for info, but you need a certain balance (or so many trades a month - I forget) before they give this to you free.

The brokers do not have this information to give away. They get billed by NASDAQ for giving you level II quotes. Some brokers will absorb these charges and not pass them on if you are a good customer and provide enough commissions. Other than that you will have to pay the NASDAQ fees. The reason scottrade is cheaper is that they don't provide as much service as, for example Schwab, where I have my account and free Level II. You want cheap or you want the service; your choice.

Scottrade has the ScottradeElite service but you have to be a pattern day trader to use it( you have to maintain a minimum of 25k in your account). There is a service that contains Level II information and a tad more. It's called nasdaq total view, and its only 14.00 a month. If your interested I've included the address.
