Lindsay Lohan took 3 men hostage and drove erratically chasing her former assistant around Santa Monica driving through red lights at speeds around 100mph. She stopped for a moment, and one of the men jumped out of the car in fear, and Lindsay ran over his foot (the young man now has to walk with a cane and wears a cast/brace). When Lindsay was finally picked up by police, she shouted that that she wasn't driving, and that the "black guy was driving."
Is this an example of racism and sexism? Are we supposed to assume that only a man would do what she did? Are we supposed to believe that a black man would do this?
Will feminists (who claim they're for equal rights) speak out against Lindsay for being unequal by blaming a man for her antics, along with taking these men hostage against their will?

Should her antics be condemned? Would feminists be more vocal and react differently, if it were a man that took 3 women hostage, drove over one of the women's foot and broke her ankle, and then claimed that the women were the ones driving?
I thought feminists were about equality? Why aren't they speaking up in defense against the men that fell victim to gender discrimination from a woman, as well as these young men being illegally taken hostage and feared for their life because of a woman's antics?

Carrie: You must not be a very good "gossip whore", if you were unaware that she took these 3 men hostage. I'm not really in to gossip that much (I'm a man), but it only took me a couple clicks and to read the witness testimony http://www.tmz.com/
Watch the video yourself. The guy's foot is bandaged and he has a cane, and all 3 say she ran over the guy's foot.

She should be held accountable and face the consequences of her actions. It would seem that she has a substance abuse problem, but like Robert Downey Jr. and others she needs to deal with these issues and move forward with her life.

Okay, I'm a huge celebrity gossip wh0re, and I haven't heard anything about this running over the foot thing or hostages. What are you reading - Life and Style? That is NOT a good source - stick to Perez and DListed.
Now, about this: "Should her antics be condemned? Would feminists be more vocal and react differently, if it were a man that took 3 women hostage, drove over one of the women's foot and broke her ankle, and then claimed that the women were the ones driving?"
Well, feminism is more about the SYSTEM of male domination, not about random incidents (unless those incidents are a direct result of male domination, like rape, etc). So I'd have to say that no, if the tables were turned, this wouldn't be a feminist issue. If what you're reporting is true, then yes, what she said could be considered racist, absolutely... but I don't think that drunk driving is necessarily gendered - that is, we don't associate that activity with only one sex, so I don't think that people would assume that only a man would do what she did.

Very good question---thanks for reminding us about feminism, too.
Lindsay (I haven't seen any of her films, so I'm not sure why she is on every newscast)---is an alcoholic and drug addict. Being a woman, she hits bottom much faster because of these chemicals than a man would. As things stand today, she couldn't get a job mopping out a 7-11 restroom with her record and attitude, so I can't understand why she is employed as an actress.
I don't understand why (except her millions of $) she is not in jail right now, and, as the news says, shouldn't get sentenced to 8 years in prison.
I sure wouldn't be offended as a woman if she got charged with kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon (her car), reckless endangerment, etc.
I think it would be great. But women in general are still, and always will be in a very subservient position politically and biologically, because men are so dangerous to them (and to just about everything else).

I don't know why Lohan hasn't been put behind bars a long time ago as she's a menace to society and on the roads.
For her to blame her passenger is very gutless, and it does smack of racism. Although all 3 of her passengers were male, it would be hard to say sexist unless there was also a female passenger and she had deliberately singled out a man then.

huh? you can't use Lindsay Lohan for a feminist argument..she was a child star who is now taking drugs and alcohol. If it was 10 women in her car I believe she would have want to push the blame too.. this is a rather odd question as the person in question is intoxicated and behaves rather erratically all the time.

I don't think this is a good example of racism or sexism, because it's an unusual "one-off" situation, which is probably why the story appealed to you so much.
How many similar stories concerning male perpetrators did you overlook to find this one?

I speak out against Lindsay because she contributes nothing to society and has no respect for herself.

Who is Lindsay Lohan? I'd condemn her behavior if I knew who she was. She sounds like an idiot, violent, and crazy to boot. Send her to jail. Happy?

I don't think her actions have anything to do with racism or sexism or anything else. I think the girl is a drunk/drug addict, and because she was under the influence she wasn't thinking clearly. I'm sure at the time she wasn't thinking about the fact that those men were a different race or sex than her. She was just acting retarded because she was all messed up on liquor and drugs!

Stupidity knows no boundaries! This issue isn't racial, or a sexual issue, it's ridiculous. She should go to jail for endangering the lives of others.
